Our Clinics & Services

Hospital Letters

Hospital letters and reports often take two weeks to be sent to the practice. If you wish to discuss a recent hospital visit, letter/report please check with reception to ensure we have received the report and then make an appointment with a doctor.

The Practice has an attached midwife who runs a clinic on a Tuesday afternoon. The doctors also provide antenatal and post natal care during routine appointments. We suggest you book alternate appointments with the midwife and a GP of your choice. This way you have the chance to get to know all members of the team involved in your care. Once you know you are pregnant, call the maternity services on 0131 536 2009 Mon - Fri 9 - 5 p.m. to arrange a booking appointment. Alternatively make an appointment with your GP. Midwife review appointments can be made by phoning 0131 536 6450.

Baby Clinic

We provide a full range of child health surveillance and immunisations. There are booked appointments on a Monday afternoon with doctors and Health visitors for scheduled developmental assessments and immunisations. The health visitors hold an open access clinic on a Wednesday morning for weight checks, advice and monitoring of problems.

We offer a full range of contraceptive services and several of the GPs fit coils and implants in the surgery. Please see the contraception section of this site for more for more information or make an appointment to discuss in more detail.

Travel Advice

Our practice nurses are trained to provide a comprehensive travel service offering advice/administration of most immunisations and scripts for malaria prevention. Remember to discuss your travel immunisations with the practice nurse well ahead of your departure as some immunisations require many weeks to complete the course. Some immunisations are available free of charge on the NHS. With effect from 1st January 2015, there will be a charge of £25 for each travel consultation with the Practice Nurse.

  • Diphtheria
  • Tetanus
  • Polio
  • Hepatitis A
  • Typhoid
  • Cholera

The following immunisations incur a charge

  • Hepatitis
  • Yellow Fever
  • Japanese Encephalitis
  • Tick Borne Encephalitis
  • Meningitis ACWY
  • Rabies

Provision of the undernoted malaria tablets will also incur a charge

  • Malarone
  • Doxycycline
  • Mefloquine

Note: certain travel prescriptions are not available on the NHS and you will also need to pay the chemist.

Please speak to the practice nurse or see the travel vaccines section of the site for more information.

Minor Surgery

All doctors within the surgery apart from Dr Johnstone perform minor surgical procedures such as removal of lumps and bumps. These are discussed and agreed during a normal routine appointment then the patient is asked to book a specific minor surgery slot.

We have access to an interpretation/translation service. This can be helpful at a consultation or with written material. Please let the Practice know in advance if an interpreter is needed, so we have time to make the necessary arrangements. None of the doctors are fluent in foreign languages.

Private Medical Examinations

Private and insurance medical examinations are done by special appointment only. Please inform the receptionist at the time of making the appointment so that the time for the examination is appropriate. Certain examinations and Certificates are not covered by the NHS and therefore attract a fee. A list of fees is found under the 'private fees' section of this site.
